Tournament Rules
I. PLAYERS / ROSTERS:
- All tournament players must be listed on their team’s CERTIFIED ROSTER. If player is not on the Certified Roster, they cannot play in this Tournament.
- If a team plays a non-certified player, they will forfeit ALL games in the Tournament. No protests are allowed.
- USA Hockey rules allow 20 players on the bench per game.
- Games may start up to 15 minutes before scheduled time as determined by Tournament Director.
II. GAME & PLAYING RULES:
USA Hockey rules apply.
- All teams are guaranteed 4 games. There will be two divisions of 4 teams. Each team will play the other teams in their division once. After the Round Robin the playoff will be the like seed from each division playing each other (i.e. 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 3 v 3, 4 v 4)
- Pre-game warm-up of five minute.
- Game Length: Three 14-minute stop time periods.
- No games can end in a tie. Round robin games that are tied after regulation will go to a 3 man shootout. Sunday Games and Championship game will have a 5 minute 3v3 overtime and then a 3 man shootout. See specific rules on overtime and shootout.
- Scoring: 3 points for a win in regulation, 2 points for an Shootout 1, 1 point for a shoot out loss, 0 points for a loss in regulation
- Time Outs: Each team is allowed (1) 60-second time out. Unused Time Outs carry into OT.
- Mercy Rule: If at any time during before the third period one team is ahead by 7 goals, running time will continue for the rest of the game, no exceptions. If at any time during the third period one team is ahead by 5 goals or more, running time will continue until the deficit is 3 goals or less. The maximum goal differential (for plus/minus purposes) will be 7.
- The tournament host will supply pucks, timers and score keepers for each game where possible.
- Ice Resurface: The ice will be resurfaced after the completion of a game.
- Teams should bring DARK and LIGHT colored jerseys. Home teams will wear dark jerseys and away teams will wear light jerseys. If a team does NOT have the proper jerseys, they must report this to the Tournament Director immediately.
- Each team is expected to clean their bench and locker room after each use. Please return locker room keys after doing this for return of collected credentials.
Liability waiver: The Tournament will not be responsible for injuries to a player, coach, spectator, or the transport of injured players. It is the team and parent's responsibility to insure that all players are covered by insurance prior to the Tournament.
Disputes are not allowed. Tournament Director's decisions are final.
III. ROUND ROBIN TIEBREAKER RULES:
Round Robin Tiebreaker Rules in priority order:
- Standings, Most Points.
- Head-to-head.
- Total Wins (regulaton and shootout)
- Goal differential: Total Goals For minus Total Goals Against (7 goal differential maximum per game).
- Goals Against
- Fewest Penalty Minutes
IV. SEMI FINAL AND CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES
- If a game is tied at the end of regulation, a 5-minute stop time sudden death overtime period will be played.
- The overtime period will be played 3-on-3.
- Teams will remain on the ice and not change ends.
- Player penalties from regulation will carry over to overtime. A team with a powerplay will be awarded a 4th player on the ice until the penalty expires then the game will continue 4-on-4 until the next whistle.
- The first team to score in overtime wins the game.
- If no goal is scored in the overtime period between either team, there will be a Three Man Shootout. If a winner is not declared, there will be a sudden death shootout. Everyone on the team must shoot before another player can shoot again. Home team decides who goes first.
